Recovery is… Music

February 2, 2016
We are pleased to announce the second installment of our “Recovery is…” video series. This month, learn about Shenette’s love of music and how music supports wellness in her life.

Throughout 2016—the 50th anniversary of the Connecticut Mental Health Center—we’ll share exciting videos like this one: stories of recovery told by people in recovery, those who know it best. View the video below. You can also catch these videos on our website, YouTube, or Vimeo and subscribe from there.

Here at CMHC, our inpatient clients can access iPods and a broad library of music to choose from based on personal preference. Music is powerful and serves as a healthy emotional outlet and as a source of inspiration. To support this, one of our AmeriCorps Public Allies has created a music drive to collect iPods, iTunes gift cards, and other accessories. Thanks to the generosity of the CMHC community, we can give the gift of music to even more clients. For more information on how to donate, contact Erin Talbot at eringaeltalbot@gmail.com

Every year 5,000 men and women in Greater New Haven count on CMHC to be there for them when they need it most. When they’ve run out of resources and need help dealing with serious mental health and addiction problems, CMHC is there for them with cutting edge, compassionate care. The CMHC Foundation is proud to support the “Recovery is…” Video Series to help spread awareness and fight stigma.
