Life-Giving Work Is Our Foundation

CMHC has been blessed with amazing leaders. This year we experienced a heavy loss when CEO Michael Sernyak died on May 25. While he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on.  

Mike, as he preferred, or Dr. Mike, as he was known by many, was no stranger to CMHC, having completed his residency here then returning in 2009 to take the helm as the Director of the Center. He presided over the Center’s 50^th anniversary, led us through the Covid-19 pandemic, championed innovative programs such as Street Psychiatry and New Haven’s Elm City COMPASS crisis response program, and promoted health equity and anti-racism in clinical care and the workplace.  You can read more about his transormative leadership in this year’s annual appeal.
